Our Backstory

Left Leg was founded by Babette Shaw in 2019 after a knee injury during a Chicago audition sparked the vision of a company dedicated to amplifying marginalized voices. The first initiative, The Happy Hour, was a monthly cabaret raising funds for charity. Though The Crucible was sidelined by COVID, Wyrd Sisters, Babette’s play
about unfiltered female friendships, premiered in 2021. Later, after moving to Sydney, Babette met Jae Pietersen Scott while performing in The Pyjama Girl. The two instantly clicked and have since been dreaming and plotting together. Now based on Gadigal Land, Left Leg is eager to build a creative community that tells innovative stories, empowers the marginalized, and revitalizes the arts.
